# Licensing and credits

## Code — MIT

Copyright 2012–2026 Matthew Plummer-Fernandez. The browser application, its documentation, tests and Matthew's original Processing code are released under the MIT licence in `LICENSE`, by the author's instruction on 26 October 2026. Historical non-commercial/share-alike comments in preserved files remain as archival records; Matthew's code in this release is additionally licensed under MIT. Third-party material is excluded from that grant.

## Sample models — CC BY 4.0

`assets/vase.stl` and `assets/box.stl` are by Matthew Plummer-Fernandez and released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International. The full licence and suggested attribution are in `assets/LICENSE.txt`. When sharing adapted sample models, credit the artist, link the licence and indicate your changes. This asset licence does not automatically apply to other models uploaded by users, nor to other artwork photographs or films on the artist's website.

## Third-party dependencies and archival exclusions

p5.js 1.11.11 is distributed unmodified under its LGPL 2.1 licence (`vendor/p5-LICENSE.txt`), separately from the MIT application. Source: https://github.com/processing/p5.js/tree/v1.11.11 .

HE_Mesh is by Frederik Vanhoutte / W:Blut. The Processing sketches also used toxiclibs and ControlP5. Historical JARs and reference documents remain in the git-ignored `archive/local-libraries/` for local preservation; they are not distributed with the browser app.

The two archived `HEC_FromObjFile.pde` files credit Corneel Cannaerts / Intorspekto (2012), with Matthew's colour-reading additions. Their third-party licence has not been established from these copies. They are preserved locally, excluded from Git and release downloads, and are not covered by Matthew's MIT grant. The browser OBJ parser is a separate implementation and does not depend on them. Other historical comments credit Frederik Vanhoutte's help with mesh conversion; those acknowledgements are retained.

The browser release is complete without the legacy Java libraries and adapted OBJ reader. The preserved Processing source is an incomplete archival reference without those local-only dependencies.

## glTF importer

Three.js 0.180.0 core, GLTFLoader and BufferGeometryUtils are distributed under MIT; see `vendor/three/LICENSE`. The loader and utility import paths are adjusted for local distribution.
